Illuminate Ministry

Illuminate is our preteen ministry at First Baptist Forsyth. It is for students who are in 5th and 6th grade. It is a transitional ministry between our Children's Ministry and 412 Students. On Sundays Illuminate meets in The Underground and uses The Gospel Project for Students. On Wednesday nights, Illuminate meets in the Fellowship Hall and uses the HyFi curriculum by Lifeway for middle schoolers. Wednesday night gatherings consist of large group teaching, discussion time in small groups, and other activities. 

Illuminate will have several service projects and fellowships throughout the year. They attend CentriKid Camp during the summer. 

The goal of Illuminate is to reach, equip, and disciple students and families to understand not just the “what” but also the “why” of the gospel and its implications in the life of every believer (godly character, healthy relationships, love for others, prayer and Bible study, living on mission).

Our Programs

Wednesday Night Programming

6:00 pm - 7:30 pm

Illuminate meets at the church in the Fellowship Hall from 6:00-7:30 every Wednesday. Please join us for a time of fellowship, fun, and most of all the chance to build on your biblical foundation and your walk with Christ. 

First Baptist Forsyth’s Wednesday night programming follows the Forsyth School calendar, as well as school closures for inclement weather. Wednesday evenings look like the following:

  • Check in at the Fellowship Hall
  • Welcome and announcements
  • Games, Praise, and Worship
  • (with 412 Students in the Underground)
  • Main Teaching Time & Small Group time
  • Dismiss at 7:30 pm

Sunday Morning Programming

9:00 am - 10:30 am

Illuminate also meets on Sunday Mornings at 9:00am in the Underground. This is during the first service from 9:00-10:30. We meet in the Underground starting at 9:00. There is also breakfast served the first Sunday of each Month. We use the Gospel Project Curriculum which studies Genesis through Revelation in a three year cycle. Sundays look like the following:

Kids come in to the Underground building and check in with a leader
(no need to sign them in upstairs)
We typically start the lesson around 9:15 am

When finished, we make sure we walk up as a group to the upstairs and connect your student with their families usually near the children’s check in desk upstairs.

At CentriKid, safety in our programming, within relationships, and at host locations, are top priorities. Our staff is trained and equipped to lead all programming and activities so your leaders can spend time with your kids. We make sure that kids have an experience rooted in biblical teachings and foster an environment that is designed for kids to deepen their relationships with both leaders and peers.

First Baptist Forsyth will attend CentriKid Camp at SBU in Bolivar, MO July 20-24, 2026. Deadline to register is January 21st, and the $75 deposit will be due by January 21st.
